Anthony Cole commenced his career in the SA Navy immediately upon matriculating.  He trained as a combat officer and graduated from Stellenbosch University with a B Mil degree.  His career followed the normal progression of sea and shore appointments interspersed with functional and developmental courses.

He held both sea and shore command appointments.  A unique aspect of his shore appointments was that the overwhelming majority of them were training related.  His last appointment was as Director Education, Training and Development (ETD) Systems Integrity for the SA National Defence Force at Defence Headquarters with the rank of Rear Admiral (Junior Grade).

After 32 years service he took early retirement and moved directly into the world of commercial training management and development of adults and has focused on maritime security training and assessments.
